THE DREAM PROJECT
An introspective and exploratory project with the aim to investigate dreams and the stories therein with different artistic methods. This project acts as a predecessor, of a sorts, to Sum of Betwixt, my degree project.
The foraging, translating and then processing of information, in this case the content from my dreamdiary, is a way of working that’s still relevant in my practice.
The Dream diary

I then translated one of the dreams into an illustrated short story, the undertaker, featuring a common subject of dreams, death.
The Font
Furthermore it felt natural to create a font so that the stories could be written in a language of dreams, the shapes inspired by dream interpretation. this organic cumulative-like effect is also something I like caring for.

Attacked: Struggle with security & confidence and /or issues of power, dominance & control.

Crying: release of deeply suppressed emotions, stress, sorrow.

Death: Change, transition, endings and new beginnings.

Journey: journey through your ”inner world”, new possibilities.

Quarry: Digging out aspects of yourself that may have been buried. Or knowing what you need but hesitating finding it.

Shadow: The unacceptable or unknown part of ourselves. The shadow can be people in dreams who stand for qualities you despise or are ashamed of. Embrace all parts of yourself.
The Blanket
By now I’ve gained a bit more understanding of my own dreams, and therefore myself. Then I gently encouraged others to do the same, under the safety of the blanket. The blanket itself contained my journal entries in the font of dreams, the color scheme from a related workshop (where the participants where encouraged to abstractly capture the feeling of a dream spoken aloud) and also a pocket with the short story (and space for people to put their own entries in.
